Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

Attendance and Punctuality

Regular, punctual attendance at school is legally required of children each day that instruction is provided. If your child is absent or late, you should send written notification to the class teacher when your child returns to school.

Please feel free to use the attached note for your child's absence. Download the attendance notepad (PDF 641KB).

If an extended absence is anticipated, please inform the class teacher or Principal as soon as possible.

If you intend to take leave for 15 days or more you need to seek permission from the Principal prior to leaving.

Students Arriving Late

Parents of students arriving to school after 9 am must report to the Office. A late arrival slip will be issued and is to be given to the class teacher. When a child is marked absent on a roll it can only be changed to a "partial absence" with the appropriate documentation.

Students Required to Leave Early During School Hours

Parents wishing to take students from school early must sign the Early Leavers Book at the Office and take a signed release slip to the class teacher. Where early removal from school is anticipated a note should also be sent to the class teacher in advance.

Where a person other than the parent is to collect a child, written authorisation and proof of identity must be presented.

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.
